Help for the Haven

The Haven, a multi-use day shelter in downtown, needs help this holiday season. Below is a list of specific items they need for the day shelter and for their kitchen. If you wish to drop off any of the specific supplies requested please see their Covid protocol for contact-less drop-off (copied below) or visit the Haven website for more information.

You can also donate money through the Haven website.

Day Shelter Needs

  • Underwear and Undershirts (men’s and women’s sizes M-3XL)
  • Deodorant*
  • Body lotion*
  • Toothpaste*
  • Sleeping Bags and Tents
  • Backpacks
  • Towels and Washcloths
  • Bandanas
  • Belts
  • Wet wipes (pocket/travel size)
  • Disposable razors
  • Socks
  • Masking tape
  • Large and pocket-sized hand sanitizer
  • Shampoo*
  • Hair picks, bristle hair brushes
  • Gloves, Scarves, and Hats
    *= travel-sized preferred

 

Please note: The Haven does NOT need other clothing items such as coats, conditioner, or shoes. The Haven CANNOT accept most clothing donations because of storage limitations.

Kitchen Items Needed

  • compostable to-go containers, new and in bulk
  • hot cups, new and in bulk
  • paper plates, new and in bulk
  • water bottles, by the case
  • sugar
  • flour
  • coffee

COVID-19 Donation Protocol

Bring items to The Haven’s (112 West Market St., Charlottesville) side entrance off 1st Street (red door) any day between 7:00 a.m. – 12 noon, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m for a contactless drop-off.
