Neighborhood Concert Raises $507 for the Haven

September 2, 2026

The Meriwether Underground

The Little High neighborhood’s first summer concert in 2026 went off without a hitch in early June. By the time the second concert (scheduled for mid-July) rolled around, the heat has unbearable, heavy storms were frequent which made it difficult to schedule outdoor events, and the vagaries of scheduling musicians for unpaid work all conspired to produce a long delay. But finally, on August 23 (a full two and half months since the last concert), the stars finally came into alignment, the weather finally looked favorable, six musicians with busy lives managed to coordinate their schedules, and the beautiful creation that is the Meriwether Underground took the stage and played a great show for about 40 people.

The band was especially motivated to try to push back against the negativity expressed on social media about the homeless encampment near Free Bridge and to try to make up for our shortfall in summer fundraising for the Haven (ALL Little High neighborhood backyard concerts are fundraisers for the Haven). This event raised a totally-not-bad $507 from the 40 or so people attending the otherwise free concert. [Read more…]

Next Neighborhood Concert: Sun., 8/23, 5:30pm

August 9, 2026

How to find 300 13th Street NE
The fact that there are two 13th Streets in our neighborhood that are both dead ends is a tribute to City planning in times of yore. This handy map will let you find the concert on 8/23/26.

The Meriwether Underground will perform a tasteful and eclectic mix of cover tunes at our neighborhood’s next backyard concert — weather permitting — on Sunday August 23, in the backyard of 300 13th Street NE (on the corner of E. Jefferson and 13th). The garden gate opens at 5:30pm; music starts at 6:00pm. This event is FREE & OPEN to everyone.

We will provide mosquito and tick repellent, relatively healthy soft drinks, popsicles, good music, and good cheer.

Everyone is invited and encouraged to bring a chair or a picnic blanket as our supply of such things is limited.

** This event is a key part of the Little High Neighborhood’s summer fundraising effort for the Haven, the multi-resource day shelter and housing resource center near Market Street Park. During the concert, contributions to the Haven will be encouraged but NOT required.**

Last summer we raised just over one thousand dollars for the Haven. This summer we hope to do even better.

Please join us!

CONCERT CANCELED

See Next Neighborhood Concert now scheduled for Sun., 8/23

Our neighborhood’s next backyard concert is — weather permitting — Sunday August 16, in the backyard of 300 13th Street NE. Our neighborhood has the peculiar feature of having two 13th streets that are both dead ends. This concert is on the corner of E. Jefferson and 13th. The backyard gate opens at 5pm; music starts at 5:30pm. The event is free and open to all people.

** This event is a key part of our summer fundraising effort for the Haven, the multi-resource day shelter and housing resource center near Market Street Park. During the concert, contributions to the Haven will be encouraged but not required. Last summer we raised just over one thousand dollars for the Haven. This summer we hope to do even better.**

The musical guests are:

Josh Mayo, a rising star in the regional music world. If you haven’t heard Josh Mayo’s music, you haven’t lived.

The Meriwether Underground. Two outstanding singers, two solid guitar players, a drummer whose middle name is “John Henry Bonham,” a great bass player who may arrive just in time for the show, and a tastefully eclectic set list. There ain’t no more to say.

Luke Foster July 21, 2026 — POSTPONED

July 8, 2026

Luke Foster

The concert scheduled for this Tuesday evening is POSTPONED due to a truly dire weather forecast.  Information about the rescheduled date will be made available as soon as we have it.

_____________________________________

Singer, songwriter, excellent guitar player, and all around good guy Luke Foster will play for the neighborhood and its friends Tuesday, July 21, 7pm in the backyard of 1121 Little High Street.

Luke Foster is a rising music star living humbly and inconspicuously in our midst. One music critic wrote about Luke that his local performances are so amazing they “leave everyone wondering why he isn’t already in Nashville.” That’s the truth and this is a show you definitely don’t want to miss.

Admission is free and everyone is welcome to join us.
