Environmental Educator Lonnie Murray of the Thomas Jefferson Soil & Water Conservation District will give a brief zoom presentation and and answer questions about “Sustainable Landscaping Practices” this Tuesday (April 13) at 5:30pm*. This talk will focus on the things individual homeowners and gardeners can do to help reduce the contamination of the Rivanna River. Bad things flowing into the Rivanna River ultimately wind up contaminating the Chesapeake Bay. Lonnie will also talk about how individuals can make the transition from the traditional lawn to native plants (reducing or eliminating the need to mow grass!) and help reduce our carbon footprint.
Lonnie Murray is a very knowledgeable and engaging speaker. He gave a great talk to our neighborhood association at our last in-person meeting just before the Coronavirus hit.
Neighborhood residents will be given first priority but all area residents are welcome to join via zoom.
