Zoning Information Session with Cville Plans Together

June 25, 2022

The following content is from Cville Plans Together:

Zoning Info Open House on Monday

What: Drop-in Open House

Date: Monday, June 27

Location: Ting Pavilion (700 E Main St)
Time: 4:00 – 8:00pm

Purpose: Kick off the community review and comment period for the Zoning Diagnostic and Approach Report

  • The City will host an in-person open house event to gather input on the proposed zoning approach.
  • Please drop in any time between 4-8pm on June 27 at the Ting Pavilion. There will be a series of informational stations where you can learn more about the analysis of the current zoning ordinance and our proposed approach to the rewrite.
  • Spanish translation and materials will be available.
  • We encourage you to consider walking, biking, or taking a bus or trolley to the meeting.
  • If you will be driving to the event, the closest parking area is the Market Street garage. A 4-hour parking validation ticket will be provided to attendees as needed.
  • In the case of severe or inclement weather, please check the Cville Plans Together website for any updates about the open house date and location.
  • Masks are optional at this outdoor event.

Draft Zoning Diagnostic + Approach Report Posted

  • We are pleased to share that the first report of the zoning rewrite phase of the Cville Plans Together process has been posted to the project website.
  • This document identifies issues with the current Zoning Ordinance and establishes a proposed approach to the zoning rewrite. It can be considered a conceptual plan for our new zoning ordinance, laying out a set of ideas that could be included in order to advance the goals and strategies of the Comprehensive Plan. Please note that we have not yet developed a draft zoning map or draft zoning text.
  • The community review and comment period for the report will extend through August 2022.
  • After the open house on the 27th, we will share additional resources from that event.

Our goals in this community engagement phase are two-fold:
(1) to explain and clarify what is being proposed and how those ideas relate to implementation of the Comprehensive Plan and
(2) to get feedback on those ideas.
