City Council Hearing on Comprehensive Plan on Nov 15

Where we are in the rezoning process

At the October 12 joint public hearing, the Charlottesville Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend that City Council adopt the new Comprehensive Plan with four amendments.

City Council will hold a public hearing and First Reading of the Comprehensive Plan on Monday, November 15, starting at 6:30pm.

Planning Commission Meeting

September 14, 5:30pm

Purpose: The Cville Plans Together team will meet with the Planning Commission during their regularly-scheduled September meeting. At this time, we will discuss the Implementation Chapter and revisions to other chapters.

Planning Commission Work Session

September 21, 5:00pm

Purpose: This discussion will be centered on revisions to the Comprehensive Plan (Future Land Use Map and chapters).

Schedule Updates

The project timeline has been updated and now reflects that Planning Commission and Council hearings for the Comprehensive Plan are currently planned for October and November.

Planned hearing dates:

  • Planning Commission and City Council Joint Hearing – October 12
  • City Council Hearing – November 15
  • City Council Second Reading – December 6

Cville Plans Together Work Session with the City Planning Commission

Materials

The materials that will be used in this meeting include the Planning Commission Work Session document (which includes some helpful explanations of the changes since May 2021) and the recently revised version of the Future Land Use Map (version completed 8/24/21).

Meeting Purpose

This Planning Commission Work Session will be an opportunity for the Cville Plans Together Consultant Team to speak with Commission members about proposed revisions to the draft Future Land Use Map and the draft Land Use, Urban Form, and Historic & Cultural Preservation Chapter and obtain feedback from Commissioners.

Cville Plans Together and the Charlottesville Planning Commission are working toward finalizing its drafts of the Comprehensive Plan and the Future Land Use Map (the binding framework upon which more detailed zoning rules will be applied) for final hearings and a City Council vote sometime this October or November.
