Information for and about the Little High Neighborhood in Charlottesville, VA
In recent years the Little High neighborhood has hosted a series of backyard concerts, story telling for children and adults, garden days, summer picnics, bonfires, food drives, clothing drives, experts on various topics, assorted political candidates, and public officials.
We're always interested in hosting or supporting neighborhood events, so let us know if you have an idea for an event that would be enjoyable for the neighborhood.
The weather forecast for the bulk of this week is great for ducks and swamp-dwelling creatures but not so good for outdoor performances, so the neighborhood music performance originally planned for this Wednesday (6/17) has been rescheduled.

Our neighborhood’s first ever Garden Day on May 16 was a success! Roughly 40 neighborhood residents showed off their lovely gardens and / or got out and took a safe* self-guided tour of the neighborhood. Several residents even expressed an interest in doing it again later in the summer.
Rain or Shine!Look for the orange and yellow balloons and enjoy the gardens from 3 to 5pm!
Please also adhere to social distancing guidelines for the safety of all our residents. We ask that everyone participating in Garden Day wear a mask and maintain at least a six foot distance from others for their own safety and as a courtesy to all our residents. Big gardens, little gardens, vegetables, fruits, or flowers — show us how your garden grows! As the first in a series of organized ‘cheer up the neighborhood’ activities that will unfold over the next several weeks, we are inviting all neighborhood residents with anything resembling a green thumb to participate in our Little High Garden Day. We are looking for neighbors who are growing things to open up their yards from 3-5pm on Saturday, May 16.
Garden Day is a chance to show off your horticultural prowess and maybe even offer some tips to those of us who would like to start a garden. More importantly, this will give us all a chance to get out and walk around our lovely neighborhood, enjoy the fresh air, and see and talk to each other — and this can all be done while maintaining a safe social distance.
We strongly encourage people who want to participate to wear masks and to maintain at least a 6 foot distance from anyone not in your household.
We ask that those who are interested in opening up their gardens to the tour let us know by the end of the day on Thursday, May 14. We will use balloons and, if necessary, signage to indicate which houses are participating in Garden Day. A map of participating houses will also be sent out via email on Friday, May 15.
Neighborhood children interested in participating are invited to serve as tour guides through the garden paths (with the consent of the resident gardener, of course).
