Little High neighborhood backyard concert June 21, 2022In recent years the Little High neighborhood has hosted a series of backyard concerts, story telling for children and adults, garden days, summer picnics, bonfires, food drives, clothing drives, experts on various topics, assorted political candidates, and public officials.

We're always interested in hosting or supporting neighborhood events, so let us know if you have an idea for an event that would be enjoyable for the neighborhood.

Family Music Night is on for this Tuesday (6/23)

June 22, 2020

Assuming the weather holds*, Family Music Night is on for this Tuesday, June 23, at 7pm at 1107 E. Jefferson Street.

The line-up for this first ever Little High Neighborhood outdoor concert is:

  • Herb & Sumner (should already be in Nashville)
  • The MNMs (a very talented family instrumental group)
  • Amazing singer-songwriter Anya Movius

This event is already being hailed as the Woodstock of Charlottesville’s Upper East Side. But come see for yourself.

Please Practice Social Distancing

The Coronavirus has not gone away and is on the upswing in more than 20 states, mostly because people have not been social distancing. So if you are feeling at all sick, please stay home. If you attend, please stand at least 6 feet apart from people not in your household or pod and please wear a mask.

We ask people to practice social distancing at this event so everyone in the neighborhood will feel welcome. One of the major goals of these small neighborhood musical gatherings is to create a safe space for residents who have been reluctant to venture out because of concerns about the Coronavirus.

EVERY legitimate medical authority in the entire world recommends wearing a mask in public gatherings. You are not smarter than they are, so please just do it. If you would like to attend but do not have a mask, please write to me asap and I will make every effort to provide you with one.

Also, the Hell’s Angels have been hired to provide security at Tuesday’s event and will be on the lookout for people not practicing proper social distancing.

* In the event of rain, please check this website for last minute updates.

Family Music Night Rescheduled

June 15, 2020

The weather forecast for the bulk of this week is great for ducks and swamp-dwelling creatures but not so good for outdoor performances, so the neighborhood music performance originally planned for this Wednesday (6/17) has been rescheduled.

The new date is Tuesday, June 23 (still at 7pm and still awesome). [Read more…]

Garden Day

June 3, 2020

Our neighborhood’s first ever Garden Day on May 16 was a success! Roughly 40 neighborhood residents showed off their lovely gardens and / or got out and took a safe* self-guided tour of the neighborhood. Several residents even expressed an interest in doing it again later in the summer.

  • Garden Day 2022
  • Garden on 12th Street NE Charlottesville
  • Garden on Meriwether Street
  • One of the Little High Neighborhood's gardens
  • One of the homes participating in Garden Day

*Everyone demonstrated good social distancing form.
