Events
In recent years the Little High neighborhood has hosted a series of backyard concerts, story telling for children and adults, garden days, summer picnics, bonfires, food drives, clothing drives, trash cleanups (in the neighborhood and assisting other neighborhoods who've asked for help), purges of invasive vines, experts on various topics, assorted political candidates, and public officials.
We're always interested in hosting or supporting neighborhood events, so let us know if you have an idea for an event that would be enjoyable for the neighborhood.
Little High Neighborhood Picnic
On Sunday, Oct. 10th, 4-6pm, we will gather at Meade Park pavillion. Food and drinks provided. This is a great opportunity to hang out with your neighbors and meet some new ones! And it’s a great opportunity to meet and talk with your Neighborhood Association Board!
Everyone is welcome! Help spread the word!
Masking and social distancing policy will follow CDC and Virginia Department of Health guidelines. Because these are subject to change in response to circumstances, we will announce what those are sometime during the week preceding the picnic.
Neighborhood Concert August 26

Featuring:
The Herb & Sumner Experience
Herb & Sumner will lead a sing along of popular tunes! Fun for the whole family.
Owen Brennan
Accomplished musician Owen Brennan will sing some songs he likes that were written by other people.
Jon Rice
Jon Rice will have his guitar out at the beginning of the show while people are hopefully not paying attention. He may pull out a few instrumental pieces from the pre-verbal American Primitive Guitar catalog.
Admission
While admission to all neighborhood concerts is FREE and open to everyone, our neighborhood has made an ongoing commitment to helping support the Haven, the downtown multi-resource day shelter. We will pass the hat for cash donations to the Haven during this event. If you prefer, you can donate to the Haven online.
Neighborhood Concert on August 3
Come hang out with your neighbors and listen to some great music!
We have two great groups lined up for Tuesday, August 3, 7pm in the backyard of 1121 Little High Street.
The MNMs! A wonderfully talented family who play a wide variety of musical instruments and who always put on a great performance.

Raven & Peter Hunter play Celtic-type tunes and songs, some original, with guitar, harp, hammered dulcimer, violin and probably a few other instruments…. will do some ballads, tunes and a few surprises including a very special musical guest!

Neighborhood backyard concerts begin again Tuesday (6/29)

The neighborhood backyard concerts begin again this Tuesday (6/29) at 7pm in the well-shaded backyard of 1114 Little High street.
Brian Keena, an excellent guitar player and singer, will open the show.
Waverly Milor and Jack Roy will follow. Waverly & Jack play deep blues from the hill country of north Mississippi. Waverly sings and plays harmonica; Jack plays homemade and store bought guitars.
Mountain Culture Kombucha
Our neighbors Donnie and Chris of Mountain Culture Kombucha will be there with a sampling of their wares! Bring a chair or blanket — and a glass!
Support for the Haven
Admission to all neighborhood concerts is FREE and open to everyone. The neighborhood association board voted last January to make an ongoing year-round effort to help the Haven so we will be passing the hat for donations to the Haven during this event. If you prefer to make an online monetary donation to the Haven, please follow this link.
