The Little High neighborhood’s first summer concert in 2026 went off without a hitch in early June. By the time the second concert (scheduled for mid-July) rolled around, the heat has unbearable, heavy storms were frequent which made it difficult to schedule outdoor events, and the vagaries of scheduling musicians for unpaid work all conspired to produce a long delay. But finally, on August 23 (a full two and half months since the last concert), the stars finally came into alignment, the weather finally looked favorable, six musicians with busy lives managed to coordinate their schedules, and the beautiful creation that is the Meriwether Underground took the stage and played a great show for about 40 people.
The band was motivated to try to push back against the negativity expressed on social media about the homeless encampment near Free Bridge and to try to make up for our shortfall in summer fundraising for the Haven (ALL Little High neighborhood backyard concerts are fundraisers for the Haven). This event raised a totally-not-bad $507 from the 40 or so people attending the otherwise free concert.
We thank all those who showed up for the concert and gave generously. You were awesome and very much appreciated!
We are still about $350 short of the $1,000 we raised for the Haven in summer of 2025 over three concerts. But Little High could possibly host one or two more free neighborhood concerts sometime in the next month or so. If so, we’ll keep you posted.
