The Little High Neighborhood Association is helping promote the Haven’s need for supplies for its day shelter. Please note: The list of requested items below was copied from the Haven’s website on April 18, 2021. You can check the Haven’s website for updates.
Needed Items for the Day Shelter
Please note, the Haven does NOT need other clothing items (outside of underwear and undershirts), coats, conditioner, or shoes.
- T-shirts (men’s, all sizes, plain, cotton crew neck preferred)
- Underwear (men’s and women’s sizes M-3XL)
- Backpacks
- Sleeping bags
- Tents
- Gloves (warm and durable preferred)
- Washcloths
- Deodorant*
- Towels
- Bandanas
- Belts
- Wet wipes (pocket/travel size)
- Disposable razors
- Masking tape
- Nail clippers
- Large and pocket-sized hand sanitizer
- Shampoo*
- Toothpaste*
- Body lotion*
- Hair picks, bristle hair brushes

Because of storage concerns, the Haven cannot accept most clothing donations. Please take clothes to the Belmont Clothing Center or the Hinton Avenue Clothing Closet (operated by Hinton Avenue United Methodist Church), where our guests can obtain clothing for free.

- Natural/textured hair care products (for leave-in moisture)
- Gift cards (stores, movie theaters, fast food, etc.)
- Snacks (individually wrapped, such as crackers, bars, tuna, etc.)
How do I Drop Off Needed Items?
COVID-19 Protocol: Bring needed items to The Haven’s (112 West Market St., Charlottesville) side entrance off 1st Street (red door) any day between 7:00 a.m. – 12 noon, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m for a contactless drop-off. Send an email to Ocean@thehaven.org if you would like a tax receipt.
