The Haven is organizing a drive to collect winter clothing for local people in need. So dig deep in your closets and pull out your extra coats, scarves, hats, sweaters, and gloves!
Please note that the Haven canNOT accept donations of coats directly at their facility downtown due to lack of storage, so donations of clothing need to be dropped off at the following locations between Wednesday, November 1 – Monday, November 13:
- Creatures Great and Small
- Forest Lakes Community Center
- Package Depot at Ivy Square Shopping Center
- Public Lands
- Random Row Brewery
- JM Stock Provisions
- Shenandoah Joe Coffee (Preston & Ivy Locations)
- South Street Brewery
- Three Notch’d Craft Kitchen & Brewery
If it’s easier, you can bring your winter wear donation to our neighborhood bonfire on November 5 and give them to Jon Rice or other volunteers who will relay them to the Haven.
After sorting all of the donations received at community drop-off locations, the Haven will co-host an event at Ting Pavilion on Friday, November 17th from 8am-11am, where guests of The Haven, along with any interested community members, can grab the coats and winter accessories they need.
More Winter Wear Happenings from the Haven
On Wednesday, November 15, The Haven, Do Good Cville, and Random Row Brewery will host a Dab for Good BINGO night to celebrate this year’s Winter Wear Drive! The event begins at 5:30pm, and they’ll start calling numbers at 6pm sharp!
Bring a coat OR $5 donation to receive a board (limit one free board per person). Prizes include gift cards and items from area restaurants, breweries, Decades Arcade, and Animal Connection. Proceeds will go to the purchase of underwear, socks, and laundry detergent for The Haven Day Shelter.
Bonus: chat with Haven staff, get swag, learn about other ways to support our work, and enjoy some brews with pals!
