ECO Fair 2026 is 4/18

ECO Fair 2026The City of Charlottesville’s Office of Sustainability and the Botanical Garden of the Piedmont are hosting ECO Fair 2026, a celebration of Earth Month on Saturday, April 18 from 9am to 1pm. With over 25 locally based organizations and vendors represented, this year’s Eco Fair aims to create a space for residents of all ages to learn from local environmental and sustainability experts and learn about ways they can get involved in preserving our shared natural resources.

The event will feature an impressive line-up of educational live demonstrations and “Lightning Talks” on a variety of topics related to water resources, waste diversion, tree care, home energy efficiency, and so much more! Little High Neighborhood Trash Cleanup Day, 5/16

On Saturday, May 16th, 1-4pm Little High Neighborhood volunteers with join forces with C’ville Litter Pickers to collect trash in our neighborhood. A social gathering with food and drinks will follow. This family friendly event will feature a scavenger hunt.

Come meet your neighbors and beautify our corner of the community!

We’ll meeting at the neighborhood bulletin board on 12th St NE between E. Jefferson St and Little High Street.

  1. Sign up here to let us know you are joining us and possibly if you want to contribute to supplies and treats.
  2. Dress for the weather and the task to include walking shoes, gloves, water and trash bags. Bring a trash grabber if you have one. We’ll have high visibility vests to lend out.

Invasive Tree Walk

Members of Charlottesville’s Invasive Plant Partnership (CHIPP) will be in our neighborhood Sunday, November 24 to walk with neighbors and identify invasive plants and discuss strategies for dealing with them. The group will gather at 1137 Meriwether Street at 3:30pm.

This is a great opportunity to learn about what invasive species are and why they are a problem.

** All neighborhood and nearby residents are invited and welcome to join us! **

Charlottesville Utilities Hosts the Final Listening Session for the Gas Decarbonization Study

Charlottesville’s Department of Utilities will conclude its series of Listening Sessions for the Charlottesville Gas Decarbonization Study with an in-person session on Thursday, August 22nd from 6pm-7:15pm at CitySpace on the Downtown Mall. All area residents are welcome but you must register in advance here: www.tinyurl.com/CvilleGasStudy.

Validated parking for the session will be available at the Market Street Garage located at 546 E Market Street, directly above CitySpace.  If you need help with registration, please call Utilities Outreach at 434-970-3686.

The Utilities Department is especially interested in encouraging members of the community who have not already attended a Listening Session to register for this event and share their thoughts on decarbonization. In 2023, the Utilities Department began work to determine how its natural gas utility can help meet community greenhouse gas reduction goals, and public input is essential to this comprehensive analysis. The first two sessions benefited from the good turnout of residents and business owners from both Charlottesville and Albemarle County.

As with the first two sessions, facilitation will be provided by Launch! Consulting, and community members will learn about Charlottesville’s climate goals, gain insights into the Charlottesville Gas Utility and its existing programs, and receive highlights on the gas decarbonization study, with the majority of the session reserved for the community to provide feedback relevant to the study.
